Hi There,
Does it make sense from and SEO standpoint to make a regular site map such as http://www.geico.com/about/sitemap/ in addition to an xml sitemap?
Or is that more for user experience?

I would say it's more for user experience. I don't think it will hurt, but it won't have much impact on SEO.
It's really up to you whether or not you should have one.
