I have entered a title in the 'title tags' strip (where there is a cursor) on the title tags window successfully, but wordage has also appeared in the body of the window beneath that strip.
In some cases, it is the same wordage as the title. In other cases, it is text drawn from the webpage (sometimes even the middle of the webpage) and sometimes it is meaningless junk!
ALL of this wordage then appears as the title of the webpage. Since SEO Tool only allows me to change what is in the narrow strip (where there is a cursor) I cannot get rid of this unwanted wordage. Can you please help?

The "unwanted wordage" that you are referring to is just the old title tag. It is what iWeb SEO Tool is replacing. It will no longer be on your website once you change the title tag in the text text area provided.
