Customization

If you don't like how Macintosh Explorer looks or acts by default, this section provides details for modifying many of Macintosh Explorer's default settings so that you can become more comfortable with using Macintosh Explorer.

Adding and using Flavors

You can customize Macintosh Explorer's appearance to better suit your needs and style. To create or remove flavors go to the Appearance tab of the Preferences window. From here, you can create custom flavors or delete some of the already created flavors listed. Using flavors, you can customize the alternate list colors as well as the color of the text in each Explorer window.

Flavors can be accessed and switched between from the View menu.

File list views

Macintosh Explorer provides three different views that are available when browsing. These include icon view, detailed view and list view. Icon view will show your documents as icons with the file name below the icon similar to the Finder's icon view. Detailed view will show your documents as a list with file information. The file information that is shown is customizable in the Preferences. List view will also show your documents as a list but without any file information besides the file name. This allows a less cluttered interface if preferred.

You can also set the icon size that is used to display your files. They can be as small as 16 by 16 and as large as 128 by 128. You can set the default size within the Preferences and you can customize the size within the current Explorer window from within the View menu.
