after having read a lot about SEO, I intend to change the url for my business.
I am fairly well known under the old url, but the old url doesn't have a describing
charakter. I thought of copying the whole content to the new url and link from the
old url to the new. My question is should I do it or leave it and better optimize under
the old url? The old url is already 6 years in use :(

Hi Michael,

I would leave the domain as is. The domain name doesn't really need to have a describing character. You are much better off with a domain that is well known and already in use. Changing your URLs can hurt any rankings you currently have (if you do not approach it properly). Just make sure that the rest of your site contains the right SEO elements needed and you should be fine.

Thank you Jeremy,
this answer really helps me to decide.
I still do have one more question in this behalf.
Is it appropriate to build up a second site with
similar content, in order to get it established
over a few years, or will there be some punishment
or rank-losses by Google on the first established site?
Regards Michael
